Chelsea is reportedly close to seal a deal to bring Uruguayan defender, Martin Caceres on a free transfer. Having signed two defenders on the deadline day of summer transfer window, Antonio Conte is believed to be keen on adding Caceres to his defensive ranks.

Marco Alonso and David Luiz were signed on the last day of the just concluded transfer window in a move by Conte to bolster his defence line-up having conceded in all their matches. Caceres had a torrid time with Juventus as he was mostly side-lined through persistent injury and was released in the summer. Though known for his brutal nature, the 29-year-old will have to prove his fitness before sealing a move to the Stamford Bridge.

Although, the Transfer window has ended European clubs can still sign players who are on free agents. Reports have it that Chelsea boss, Antonio Conte has asked to see Caceres’s medical records before making any decision.
