An itchy scalp can be a socially embarrassing situation. Nobody wants to be caught scratching their head. An itch can arrive suddenly, while in the middle of a conversation, a presentation, a meeting. And there’s nothing you can do, except scratch that itch.

Not only is this embarrassing in public, but it can also cause you a lot of discomfort and sometimes even lead to hair loss. Itchy scalp are mostly caused by dandruff, dry scalp, dry hair and others. This frustrating and embarrassing hair condition can be cured with the following home remedies

Onion Juice: The antibacterial and anti-fungal properties present in onion juice provide relief from itchiness caused by dandruff and ringworm. The essential nutrients like vitamin B6 & C, potassium, magnesium, germanium and sulphur nourish your scalp. Grate or blend onions to extract juice from it, using your finger to apply the onion juice on the scalp thoroughly. Leave it on for 30 minutes. Rinse off with shampoo and water.

Aloe Vera: Aloe vera gel contains moisturizing properties, which may relieve excessive dryness and itching. If fresh aloe vera gel is not available, you can purchase the gel. Spread some fresh aloe vera gel onto your scalp using your fingers. Allow it to sit for 10 to 15 minutes and then wash your hair with a mild shampoo.

Condition with bananas and avocado: Bananas work in two ways. Not only do they treat an itchy scalp, but they also condition your hair. Mash two ripe bananas and one ripe avocado into a paste, apply to your scalp and leave for 30 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and repeat regularly.

Exfoliate with baking soda: Did you know baking soda can help alleviate an itchy scalp? It works by exfoliating the scalp and helping reduce dandruff. Apply a paste of baking soda and water on the scalp for the best results.

Fight itching scalp with lemon Juice: Lemon juice has immense antiseptic properties, and is quite useful when tackling dandruff.  Massage fresh lemon juice onto your scalp; leave it on for 5 minutes before rinsing with water. Rinse again with water and a teaspoon of lemon juice; repeat this remedy daily for a week.
