The thing is, so many of us has lost the main essence of music and some of us cannot properly define what the Gospel is all about not to talk of understanding what "Gospel Music" major aim is....
Another fundamental truth is that many of us have sold ourselves into the slaving claws of religion and religion dogmats. That our perception, judgements and sense of reasoning has been deeply affected by the religious leaders we look up to and so believe in their doctrines and teachings forgetting that even as Christians who are the sole representative of the gospel of Christ have been given the access and the grace to communicate with our Father in heaven independently.

Now to the main discussion "Content or Container, which matters most when it comes to "Gospel Music"? Content means lyrics of the songs in container means the Singer/Artiste/Musician.
First and foremost, I quickly want to put down the meanings of the major key words that are contained in the above topic which are "Music, Gospel, Gospel Song"
MUSIC: In a figurative expression, music is a sound that is pleasing and interesting. So in essence, music is meant to please and interest the listener(s). What does music does to the soul? Music Inspires, Motivates, Edifies, Build up, Encourages, Steer up an urge, Wakes up emotions, etc.

GOSPEL: 1. An account of the life, death, resurrection, and teachings of Jesus, generally written during the first several centuries of the Common Era. 2. A message expected to have positive reception or effect.
A GOSPEL MUSIC is therefore a sound that is pleasing, interesting and whose major aim is to promote the gospel which talks about life, death, resurrection, teachings of Jesus and which is also expected to inspire and have a positive reception or effect on it's listener(s)

It has been often said that the Content can be use to make a quick accessment of the Container and vice versa but does this apply to the "Gospel or Gospel Music"? I've always asked myself. Now let's do the analysis together by thoughtfully answering these set of questions:
1. Is there or should there really be any difference between Musicians/Artiste or was it that we created the difference ourselves?
2. Does the type of music produced by artistes serves as a yardstick for judging if they are Christians or not?
3. Should a Christian not be allowed to express his thoughts musically just because it's not a "Gospel Music"?
4. And can or should an unbeliever not be allowed to do a "Gospel Music" if he/she so pleases??
5. So what If I'm a Christian that doesn't like to express the gospel through music but will rather do a music that Inspires, Motivate, and interest people. Should I automatically be tagged a backslider or I should just kill my talent because I'm a Christian and as such is expected to only do "Gospel Music"?
Please who made these rules and to what purpose and end?? Is the spreading of the Gospel of Christ through any means limited to only the Christians? How many of we-the-so-called Christians are even spreading it at all order than to perform religious rites with no fruits to show for it...The major goal of the spread of the Gospel is for it to get to all men and that all men comes to the knowledge of Christ...Now even if an Atheist will help spread the Gospel to achieve this major goal, should he be condemned or banned from doing so? So why then should the spread of the Gospel through any means be limited only to the Believers??  How many of us the so-called-believers can really proved to be a certified believer before God?
So please note, that WHEN IT COMES TO THE SPREAD OF THE GOSPEL, THE CONTAINER DOES NOT REALLY MATTER BUT THE CONTENT..

The Gospel isn't really about pointing out sinners and telling people to repent. It is majorly aimed at bringing all men to the knowledge of Christ. Thus, when men comes to the knowledge of Christ and accept His Lordship over their life, they will automatically identify themselves as sinners and then repent.... This basically means that even a sinner can spread the gospel which is the knowledge of Christ to another sinner like himself or to any other person.

Now to the summary of the whole matter; If you still think that the Container matters a lot in "Gospel Music", keep that thought to yourself and please stop judging people simply because of your beliefs that cannot substantially be proven to be valid. It is never a man's place to judge. God judges all men and all things......
