Fresh FM, an Ibadan-based radio station owned by veteran musician, Yinka Ayefele, has been demolished .The question now remains, was the demolishing a necessity to the welfare of Oyo state residents or there is an act of hidden political clash of interest?
The demolition exercise, began a few minutes past 6’o clock in the early hours of today.
The location of the station has been a subject of controversy in recent times, with the management of the station and the Oyo State Government locked in a war of words. The government had warned that it would take down the building.
It was gathered that Mr Ayefele has taken the matter to court, alleging political victimisation since he got the notice for the demolition of the building by Oyo state government.
The explanation given by Oyo state government as to why the building which is located at Challenge Ibadan will have to be demolished 4 days ago is that was not based on sentiments or any of the issues being insinuated. But that some part of the building were not approved and for other factors.
There are speculations that the station was being witch-hunted for airing strong criticism against the state government. Insinuations had it that the station was being punished for airing a comment that Governor Abiola Ajimobi, was a part owner of the Central abattoir in Akinyele Local Governments, the reason why all other abattoirs in the city were shut down and butchers forced to move to the new one.
But in a reaction by the state Commissioner for Information and Culture, Toye Arulogun, the state government said Fresh FM was only trying to whip up sentiments to escape the consequences of contravening planning laws and causing three fatal accidents in the last nine months.
However, this is what some people have been saying regarding the demolition.....
*He purposely did it because Fresh FM will serve as a tool used by opponents against him but he still didn't succeed because he only demolished building not the frequency*
